One of those phone memories surfaced reminding us that a mere six years ago today we were in Damme in Belgium. This is the Damme Canal, built on the orders of Napoleon in order to move troops to the Netherlands without harassment from the British. It's a popular photo spot thanks to its straight line and rows of poplar trees along its length.
