EV folks, I live in . My car just catastrophically failed today. There is an affordable Nissan Leaf I want but the charging stations are kind of a pain to get to and I live in an apartment complex. I think I can run an extension cord out to charge the car, however its not certain. There are some electric chargers at work but there is no guarantee that they will be available. There appears to be adapters for Tesla chargers that can do fast charge but I can't tell if they only convert to level 2 or not.
We are trying to weigh if its worth the annoyance or not. what do you think?

@anubis2814 As an EV owner, I can tell you that the extension cord game is NOT what you want to do.

  1. The longer the distance, the heavier gauge extension cord you need because of voltage drop. The car won’t charge if the cable isn’t thick enough.
  2. People will steal or vandalize your EVSE / adapter / extension cord if given the opportunity.
  3. The outlet you use should be dedicated to EV charging. Other loads on the same circuit could cause a breaker to trip.
