Well update on the government side of the job hunt… did a horrid 3-hr exam on Monday in which the person who wrote the job description did not talk to the person who wrote the exam. So that was a fucking amazing stressful waste of time (probably).
Next Monday I get another 2-day exam at 8;30AM and… a 2-hr exam at 9 AM from a difference department the same day. So will get the 2-hr exam out of the way and do the 2-day exam after 😩 #ottawa#jobs
@grivettcarnac keep stuffing those irons in the fire. Dotting the I's and crossing the T's. Federal "competitive" employment processes are highly mechanical. It's unfortunately very wasteful for candidates and hiring orgs and doesn't contribute anything to getting good employees. Maybe it teaches candidates about navigating the bureaucratic rigidity they'll be facing if they get hired, perhaps that's a silver lining.
@johnefrancis a few of them in the fire right now and will keep plugging away at. Lots of applications everywhere but the private sector ghosting is a tad bullshit
@grivettcarnac I’ve been adjacent to the government exam situation a number of times (thankfully never a vicitm), and aside from the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, I’ve also developed the impression that a lot of the exam setters don’t know how to write good questions.
@MichaelPorter I mean I haven’t done many but Mondays didn’t line up with what I applied for so unsure if my skills shone at all but I think next weeks will be better aligned (hopefully)
