As of November 22nd 2023, my experience with on GPU is still atrocious, while on is almost flawless ... Seriously thinking swapping my RTX 3060 in my secondary PC with RX 6600 despite expecting slightly worse game performance ... Screw Nvidia ...

@PeterSoukup
Hm, out of curiosity. What issues do you have? Since I moved to Wayland my issues seem to have gone (for now).

@weipah Doesn't wake up from sleep, doesn't overclock (on X it's fine). I know there is probably a workaround, but, heck, it does feel like linux 15 years ago, it's 2023. The worst think is roll-out panels when you click on widgets (like bluetooth on system panel, or app launcher) don't appear in about 50% of the cases, you have to keep hammering it repeatedly till they do.This makes the whole desktop experience a total mess.It happened after some tweaking as the widgets on the bottom panel were

@weipah completely unresponsive, this is the trade-off. Like I said - a mess ...

@PeterSoukup
Uff OK, that sounds exhausting to debug also.

@weipah Yep ... 😎

@PeterSoukup for me things got better, when I moved to Manjaro "unstable" branch with the latest NVIDIA drivers and the 6.6 Kernel, also switching to Wayland helped with the multi-monitor support. But your issues sound more Plasma related somehow.

@weipah I'm on Arch 6.6.1 kernel, and 545.29 Nvidia driver. That is, I believe, the latest. I heard that Wayland works better on Nvidia/Gnome as well ... I've also heard a lot of issues related to Plasma/Wayland+Nvidia are supposed to be fixed in Plasma 6 ...

@PeterSoukup yep, same version here. Really weird. Only difference is that I use the NVIDIA only for gaming, everything else is rendered through the AMD APU.

@weipah Cool, that's interesting setup ... This is rig is more like spare parts splice - I had an older Intel based PC and a lot of #GPUs lying around left from 2021 #crypto craze, not my first choice and only occasionally used in my 2nd home. I love ray tracing, but I would still rather go with AMD, I dislike #Nvidia that much 😎. I still game at Full HD only and for the games that support so far, my RX 6700 XT performace with #raytracing is sufficient.

@weipah The only games that are actually worth playing on Nvidia for me is #Crysis 2 and 3 remastered, to get a maxed ray tracing performance, an upscale is necessary on both RX6700 and RTX 3060, and since the games only support DLSS 2 officially (or FSR 1 through Proton) with DLSS 2 it looks little bit better ...

@PeterSoukup we need #SteamDeck refurbished without screen, batteries and joysticks as a cheap AMD Linux NUC.
