My faves were Frogger and Missile Command for my 2600. And something with teeny little ostriches flying around. Can’t think of the name. Then I got a BASIC cart and programmed the accounts for the condo I was the treasurer for.
@dannotdaniel@qurlyjoe@paul Yar's revenge includes some really cool programming tricks to add complexity. It draws some items on the screen that couldn't fit in memory together on alternate frames, and it also uses the actual program code as a visual texture.
My favorites on the Atari 2600 were: Pac-Man, River Raid, Combat
I had an Atar 5200 which had good games & improved graphics, but the controls were garbage & the console quickly became obsolete. But I did love: Pac-Man, Mario Bros, Joust, Pitfall 2
Combat was the first game I had right with Pac-Man.
River raid was pretty good but I had that on the Atari 800 I think.
Pitfall 2 is amazing with the balloon rides and whatnot. Here is the entire map for nostalgia purposes (okay I don't have it but I will edit this shortly)
