@tripplehelix Do you want to stream or do you want to have an NVR? Can't you stream with ffmpg or vlc? If you want an NVR then I highly recommend https://frigate.video/ with Coral USB dongle. Very few false positives. Finally I focus on events and not on a shadow/leaf/rain moving throughout the frame.
@bkrawczyk Just want to be able to connect to it from other devices to see the stream. Doesn't need to record anything. Would love if it streamed via a webpage using mjpg.
@bkrawczyk libcamera2 have some good examples that include python scripts that run a simple web server for which they display MJPEG. This works great, and the pi is able to achieve a good frame rate at half sensor size. However, the issue with this method and running a simple one line script using libcamera is that it crashes easily. Using libcamera-vid it closes automatically if the stream is closed. Using libcamera2 in python locks up the pi and crashes the process.
@bkrawczyk I've tried increasing VRAM, and I've increased the swap file size. However, it doesn't seem related as journalctl shows nothing and the logs it outputs show nothing. Also, monitoring CPU and RAM usage shows no issue, it does use about 120% of four cores (400%) but that's pretty normal. I'm guessing the library itself is causing the issues.
@tripplehelix right. I’ve only used ZoneMinder and Frigate as NVRs so can’t help much. Although Frigate is now using go2rtc to multiplex streams. Maybe this will have what you need.
