@jrf_nl@joplinapp I've been using Joplin for a while. It does not get the buzz that others do. It's simple and straightforward, though. Cross-platform, open source, plain text files, syncing if you want, and MD support.
@redcrew Interesting. I'd been looking at that and was curious why nobody had mentioned it so far.
The one thing I'm hesitant about is the 5 tag limit in the free version as that sounds very very limiting. Also feels like a bit of a lock-in as the export options seem limited as well (in the free version) and buying a Pro version to leave doesn't sound right to me.
@jrf_nl I like that it's encrypted end-to-end and open source. And their focus on privacy, design, and helpful documentation.
I had thousands of notes in Evernote. I didn't have any notes with 5 or more tags, but before I moved, I did a major notes cleanup.
Understand your concern about purchase. For me, because Notesnook has a 30-day guarantee, I chose the Pro plan. Cost was less than my annual Evernote plan. I figured if I didn't like it, I'd ask for a refund.
@jrf_nl I've been happy with Obsidian (I'm on Mac, but it is cross-platform). Also heard good things about logseq.
Importing evernote into Obsidian was quite possible, when I did it a year+ ago, but I found it to be helpful to keep the imported content in a separate vault from my main content. This prevented malformed Evernote content (e.g., recipe imports) from breaking obsidian's neat linking and graphing features.
@lucp@jrf_nl I use Google Drive (I know... I know..) and use it just like I would sync with Stack. Just point Obsidian to a folder inside your Stack directory. Syncing to mobile with GDrive is not possible. At least not natively, but you don't have a smart phone, so no worries there.
If you use the WebDAV protocol on Stack, then first create a new backup path (noem je dat zo daar?) and drop your notes there. Because they need to be on your disk.
@jrf_nl@lucp@jmslbam@zackkatz@DLMax since it's only text based files (mostly Markdown) you can you use any cloud/drive solution (Dropbox, one drive, google drive...)
There is also a plugin to sync with a git repository, this is really good to keep track of versions of notes
