Interesting, heard about someone who almost had their work direct deposit changed... Someone set up a gmail account with their name and emailed HR of their employer and asked them to change their direct deposit to an account (that was NOT THEIRS). Worth keeping an eye on that one. #cybersecurity #phishing #scam

saneashouses,

@ai6yr This happened to me. My boss was about to send the info to accounting when he thought better of it and checked with me.

@ai6yr The scary thing is how specific it was, down to correct names and company titles. Google apparently won't shut down the offending gmail account since they say it isn't their problem.

@ai6yr why would HR do that with a Gmail rather than a corporate email? Yikes.

@douglasvb They didn't, that's how it was caught... but it was interesting they are setting up gmail addresses for employees and attempting to phish HR.

Interesting. Some non-office workers use their own mailers to correspond with office as they don't have company email address.

@Johnyoungc45 @douglasvb Yep, this is the case with contractors. Could be bad.
