the sad thing about mastodon is that honestly I don’t actually think that many fandom people here are particularly friendly at all... I’m happy to keep talking to myself and all but jeeze...tough crowd. I can’t even crack people when I approach them directly with generic pleasant small talk... you know it’s bad when you realise that even tumblr people are more friendly despite living in the least social UI ever created

(Aiiii, I still have nightmares about Tumblr!! And I had a moderately popular Tumblr back in the day.)

One thing to remember, there just aren't a ton of fandom folks here yet. Jo has built us a little safe and friendly home for FediARMYs. But we veer off topic all the time. Heck, 3/4 of my posts are about Funko Pops or LEGO!

It's finished, se acabó, c'est fini. I'm finally done with my dissertation. Happy ARMY Day everyone! It fits perfectly that this work is finished on this special date, given the topic!
This dissertation has been one of the most emotional rides ever for me. It's the first time I've written such an extensive text all by myself, and all while working almost 40h/week for this past month. I'm proud of my work, and I really hope I could honor our beautiful fandom. Now I'll enjoy the sunrise, no sleep!

What is your superpower?

Someone told me her superpower and the way she said it was so wonderfully knowing. I loved hearing it.
She said hers is being able to see both the small details AND the big picture, and being able to zoom in/out between them instantly.

Please, if you're comfortable sharing it, what is yours?

(I think we can have more than one...)

One of mine is being able to sense how things talk to one another. Colors on a page, furniture in a room, plants where they grow...

I have a knack for explaining complicated concepts in plain language to folks who aren't specialists. Came in handy in my old job, processing and analyzing data for doctors.

Down side is the takeaway for many was "Ohhh, that must be easy then!" Thus my old workplace still calling me 6 months after I quit to explain how to data. sigh I should have used more jargon.
