I probably need to setup rel=me stuff for Mastodon, but I can't figure out a good way to go about doing so ...

So it looks like OpenBSD/arm64 on a M2 mac has some really weird spinlock issues. I have't decided if I really want to debug this, but it's interesting trying out the ARM ports of everything.

Oh this sucked to do, but there's now a copy of the OpenBSD source code on github with all the branches and tags: https://github.com/NCommander/openbsd-src-with-branches

It's currently a oneshot since you have to EDIT the ,v files to get them to import, but if people care, I could possibly do this as a recurring one.

It didn't occur to me that disk IO on OpenBSD might be an order of matitude slower than Mac OS until I just tried the later for shits and giggles sake ...

What converting OpenBSD CVS to git does to your laptop ... (it already OOMed once)

Watch it live: https://youtube.com/live/d4xm_Fdq3JM?feature=share

I got a stream suggestion to use cvs-faster-export instead of cvs2git, which does seem faster but it OOMed, but I also had to modify the ,v files to ge cvs2git to actually load the repo, so if I do this for anything more than a one-shot, I'll have to experiment on the best way to do this.

I dunno if there' mush use for this, but I'd probably be willing to setup the stuff to do this semi-regularly if there's want/need.

At the end of the day, I suppose the only thing we truly leave behind are memories.

One of the very few things that we as individuals can control is how we act towards others.

In the end, if all we are destind to be are memory of someone else after our passing, at least try to make it a kind one, and not a cruel one ...

On the down side, I have misplaced a car key. O the plus side, my apartment is much cleaner than its been in awhile.

Pretty optimistic it will turn up. It may be in the car itself, so I'll have to go check when the sun is up.

I got to say having put in a lot of long hours with netBSD as of late, I am really wondering how viable moving some of my servers over to *BSD is.

ncommander,
@ncommander@restless.systems avatar

@ZiggyTheHamster having maintaied Ubuntu installs over a decade, I'm more of the opiion that *BSD would be less effort because I don't need to worry about the system drastically changing on me, or apt breaking.

@sayartyler made to look like it, as its WIndows terminal but i used CRT more.

ncommander,
@ncommander@restless.systems avatar

@sayartyler Oh no that was the actual keyboard. If there's an app that can do it, then I'll use that as I don't always stream with the mic on anymore

ncommander,

@sayartyler what's buckle from? I don't see it in MacPorts
