All Conduit installation scripts/manuals which pull the executable from Docker pipeline artifacts are broken because they're just gone :woozy_baa:

davebloggt,

@volpeon Something like podman run registry.gitlab.com/famedly/conduit/matrix-conduit:v0.7.0 works for me (as in, I can pull the image).

@jzohren: Hold my tea.

@Kurorori
Bist du auf dem Camp? Wir haben Chaospost für dich!

So at least some Starlink IPs have an rDNS of 'undefined.hostname.localhost'. Great.

@fedora If you want user feedback, just ask. Show people a "take this survey" link, for example.

Taking any kind of data in a covert manner is a slippery slope. Sure it's just aggregated stuff about installed packages. Who cares. It's just when that computer is turned on or off. Who cares. It's just which programs were running at which times. Who cares. It's just window titles and keystrokes. Who cares.

Don't start with the first, if you don't want to end up with the rest.

davebloggt,

@claudius
Nobody is going to take surveys and those that do are not a good sample of the whole userbase.

If you want to have helpful data, it needs to come from the majority of the users, not the tech-savvy-likes-to-answer-surveys-subset.

davebloggt,

@claudius
I would not call what is proposed "tracking", because the data collected cannot be used to identify users.

davebloggt,

@claudius
Eh, your IP or that you use Fedora is not a new information that gets transmitted because of telemetry.

Package updates already do that. They even transmit that information to random strangers that operate the package mirrors.

Kent submitted to Linus for inclusion into the :

https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/20230626214656.hcp4puionmtoloat@moria.home.lan/

His patchset besides the code itself also included some changes for other subsystems – unsurprisingly this wasn't much welcomed[1].

[1] that's the diplomatic description

davebloggt,

@kernellogger
Thanks for posting updates about that.
I'm more and more sceptical if bcachefs will ever land in the kernel, when Kent seemingly can't follow procedure.
