@ascherbaum we have fine 4g/5g almost everywhere here in Sweden and I had no problems with that where I took the picture. Usually the sunlight's glare on the screen is the bigger issue! 😀

FreeBSD "nicked" the name http_req in a tcp header file and broke the curl compile! https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=271526

That pain in your soul you experience when you realize there's a horrible regression in your newly released package. It's not nice.

The #curl graph we always get to debate over. Number of C mistakes vs non-C mistakes among the existing 145 reported vulnerabilities. Updated with the latest 4 reports, and the LOC graph added as a comparison.

bagder,
@bagder@mastodon.social avatar

@alexshendi the C mistakes are at ~41% of the total

bagder,
@bagder@mastodon.social avatar

@alexshendi Two years ago we were still at ~50% C mistakes and then I blogged this: https://daniel.haxx.se/blog/2021/03/09/half-of-curls-vulnerabilities-are-c-mistakes/

bagder,
@bagder@mastodon.social avatar

@ArneBab clearly the c mistake share has decreased significantly the last two years. I suppose we will learn if this was just a fluke or something real as we go forward!

I hear that attempts to backport curl patches have been made difficult by all my refactoring and that distros decided to upgrade the complete curl for you instead.

I am sorry about the time wasted, but not the outcome.😬

bagder,
@bagder@mastodon.social avatar

@mjgardner @icing actually, being liberal in accepting things is not a good idea either. If it violates the protocol, eject, close, kill, abort. At once. That leads to better code and protocols in the longer run.

again: paying for travel and lodging is nice, but traveling abroad and talking at a conference is work - I can't work for free. Especially if your conference charges >1000 USD entrance fees.

bagder,
@bagder@mastodon.social avatar

@hughsie that seems to be forgotten frequently indeed and so many seem to think that we think traveling is only a fun vacation or something

bagder,
@bagder@mastodon.social avatar

@troed I mostly say no these days unless I get the tier 1 treatment. A fortunate position no doubt.

bagder,
@bagder@mastodon.social avatar

@vijf @Natureshadow correct. They easily give me a free entrance to their conferences, but that does not pay for food for my family.

bagder,
@bagder@mastodon.social avatar

@Feldon the email that triggered me to this toot this time was of the latter more rude kind...
