Guy I was working with described a call he got for what he thought was "pedal edema" and it turned out to be "penile edema."

They walked in and found a Hispanic guy who described swelling in his "utensils" apparently as the result of them going in through his femoral artery for a cardiac catheterization.

I'm working on a piece from Alanik Ray's perspective and I particularly like this bit about how he met Van Richten and Ezmerelda.

(And yes this is me continuing to refuse to call her Ez or accept the retcon of her not actually being Vistani)

I also wasn't originally going to have substance abuse in Alanik's background despite his inspiration but after writing from his perspective of it I realized that definitely happened as a way for him to mentally escape from things in his past. The above mentioned incident made him go clean.

Whoo hoo actually finished a multi chapter story! Clocked in at 7 chapters and just about 13k words. The second to last chapter is live and the final will probably go up in a few days after I give it an editing pass.

We watched Dune Part 2 and something that made me laugh is no one on the Harkonnen planet has hair. It's like they all have alopecia.

We also observed that Zendaya is clearly the more kickass of the duo of her and Paul. Similar to her character in Spider-Man. And we were joking that the dynamic where the more forceful partner is like "Excuse me, he asked for no pickles" that is Zendaya in every one of her roles.

I have made Van Richten’s Guide to Vampires in #Ravenloft an item in-universe which does the following;

"A tome written by the famed monster hunter himself, this book purports to be a guide to identifying, fighting, and slaying vampires. As an action, you may consult the book and add +3 to any Arcana checks (interaction) related to vampires."

So now I'm just picturing somebody has the book open in one hand as they're trying to look up something.

And I think a plus +3 is fair because you can still fuck it up horribly. Like, you're trying to figure out what type of damage they're weak to and you're trying to flip to page 98 but you accidentally go to 89 instead which has to do with the types of wine they prefer.

Well my players killed the Pope in my #DnD #Darkon game. Or more accurately the Pontiff of a fake church that was actually a front for the Kargat. But we were making Pope jokes the whole time.

He also died by getting what a player described as Falcon Punched, came back briefly as a ghoul because he quickly drank the vial of vampire blood he stole back from a character and almost immediately got disintegrated.

So after we wrap up the fallout of this entire plot (which included the paladin who was actually a warlock finally snapping out of it and the Hexblood telepath being relieved she no longer has to hear the Pontiff going on about this Tavelia vampire) I'm going to move on to the next plot and I already have some ideas.

It involves Rudolph van Richten and his son and their backstory. Specifically Baron Metus.

And honestly I'm a little nervous about doing this plot because it involves the fact that Baron meet us with a pedophile who kidnapped Van Richen's son to be his "bride" after turning him. I do not plan to go into the details of what happened to Erasmus while he was captive but I think people can infer. And I figured out how to have my cake and eat it too because the next destination of the players is the Black Tower where the Baron lived, which is haunted by the other boys he did this to.

However, I don't like the idea of the ghosts of these teenage boys being stuck there. Plus, Van Richten wouldn't just leave them there.

But, I recalled something that's referred to as the Stone Tape Theory, which is where a location can record horrible events that happened there. So what the players see is basically a recording of what happened and the actual spirits aren't there anymore.

I also like the idea that they can kind of meet Van Richten or more accurately see what he did. Which was put the other boys to rest while he took his own son home so they could have one final day together before he put him down as well.

Actually no, there is one spirit left. Baron Metus himself so the players can beat up his ghost and possibly dispel him. Because I think the players will enjoy beating up the ghost of a pedophile vampire.

Attending virtual EMS rounds with a neurologist and he said that recognition of strokes in women is a problem because they tend to present differently and as a result outcomes are worse. I had heard that about heart attacks but that's a new one for strokes. And so it's yet another area where we have gender disparity in health care.

Someone tried to ask the neurologist if they noticed more strokes in younger people (with the implication it was from COVID vaccines) and the neurologist shut that down.

He said they noticed an uptick from people who had COVID but there was no evidence it was related to the actual vaccine.

He acknowledged that some of the early vaccines were observed to have clotting issues (I assume he means the J&J vaccine) but there was no known correlation between strokes in younger people and those vaccines since the people with those symptoms also had COVID which has a much more dramatic effect on clotting.

@mloxton yeah he specifically mentioned hormonal issues related to menopause so I'm guessing that's what he meant, but unfortunately I have a feeling there's little to no research about trans women in these situations.

In universe Adam Worth is somebody Arthur Sedgewick came up with to have an overarching villain for the stories he wrote and to take the place of people he didn't want to identify in case they retaliated.

Also a bit of a meta joke as Adam Worth was the real life criminal that James Moriarty was supposedly based on. So if you're keeping track that means my Adam worth is a fictional character based on a fictional character who was based on the real Adam Worth.
