I find myself using the FreeForm, the MacOS built-in app more and more for simple collages, annotations and drawings.

Very pleased with it, and the sharing across my devices is a plus.

@kkolakowski yeah, using it mostly on Mac

Fresh massacre in Palestine, in the place the ICJ explicitly said to stop.

When you paid off every politician in the US, they just let you do it. You can do anything.

Regarding the German credit card I previously tweeted about: https://mastodon.social/@hamato/112508398568111709

I have come across something with the Observation framework that is confusing me so if there are any Observation framework experts out there that can explain this to me, I would be forever grateful. Why I don’t have to define the object as a State object?

@StewartLynch my intuition is that this will call the constructor again when it recreates the view, which in this case you are not triggering yet.

    Over on twitter there has been a bit of a back and forth on C# and Rust simple json server performance.

    I know C# has gotten a ton of performance tuning on the stack, and was wondering if Swift was up to the task.

    I have never done Swift on the Server before, but the results are impressive:

    Swift: 64k req/sec
    .NET: 61k req/sec

    @opticalaberration I was running on Release mode from Xcode.

    @mackuba I think some of those test are optimized for the benchmark, using every low-level feature they can.

    This test is just the idiomatic thing that one would write following the documentation.

    If you take a look, you will see that the Rust code is using the low-level APIs to show how fast you can go, which few people would ever write, while the Swift code is the idiomatic code you would use if you started on your first tutorial:

    https://github.com/TechEmpower/FrameworkBenchmarks/blob/master/frameworks/Rust/ntex/src/main.rs

    https://github.com/TechEmpower/FrameworkBenchmarks/blob/master/frameworks/Swift/vapor/vapor-default/Sources/main.swift

    @Migueldeicaza@mastodon.social avatar

    @mackuba It does call into question the usefulness of this as a tool to decide what web stack is more suitable from a performance standpoint.

    Update, I must have done something wrong with Hummingbird and Xcode.

    Using "swift run -c release" rather than running in Release mode from Xcode brings Hummingbird to 52,305 req/sec and memory usage down to 16MB.

    Migueldeicaza,
    @Migueldeicaza@mastodon.social avatar

    Another update, using "swift -c release" rather than Xcode "Release" also improves Vapor memory usage from 24MB to 14MB.

    Is there a way not to burn quithub's LFS quota on github actions?
    I have a repo with GBs of LFS data, and it looks like the checkout action downloads the entire thing every time it's triggered.
    This is not only is extremely wasteful, but also gets expensive very quickly!

    Migueldeicaza,
    @Migueldeicaza@mastodon.social avatar

    @castano i felt this way when my team forced me to use got a few years ago, in my case, i realized how mistaken i was about subversion and git and have embraced the latter for good (i dont do LFS so ymmv)

    Public service announcement

    I am not paid for this or have any interest in this company

    We give our kids debit cards using tillfinancial.com - we give their allowance there, and they get debit cards and Apple Pay integration

    Zero fees, or hidden shenanigans.

    Love it.
