Today's is the loudest clap of thunder I think I've ever recorded, and maybe even heard for that matter. The storm went on for hours, and I haven't listened since I made the recording, but this loud gem is right near the beginning.

@bmoore123 I actually looked this up, and apparently we have a holiday named after her because she was pro confederation. So she was actually in favour of Canada becoming a country, instead of what happened with the US 100 years earlier.

If you want your spam message pretending to be a serious company to look at all authentic, starting the e-mail with "Hey," probably isn't the best idea in the world.

@Bruce_Toews I actually got a phishing message from a scammer Pretending to be Shopify saying that my subscription had lapsed and I needed to login to renew it. I don't own a Shopify store, so it immediately raised red flags, but the email itself looked really authentic. I don't see many of those, usually I can Spot fishing emails right away. It was only when I went to double check the address it was sent from that I confirmed it was a scam, but I could see how a legit Shopify store owner could be duped.

why would a bank offer me a credit card limit increase to 30 thousand dollars. if I owe that much on a credit card, I am in serious trouble! Do people really need that much room on a single card. the balance is 17 bucks I think. I guess they don't make enough money off me.

@bmoore123 I have known of people to take a mortgage out on their house to pay their debts, so yes there are definitely some people who would take advantage of having a $30,000 credit card, but it would be to the banks advantage, not theirs.

I'm having an issue with my Zoom recorder. I can't listen to any of my files on my phone or my Mac. I am told the .wav file is not a valid file. I have reformatted the SD card and a test recording seems to be working just fine. I also updated the firmware, so here's hoping whatever was wrong was fixed. Unfortunately, my audio recording of the plane taking off was lost, and the version I copied to my Mac is corrupted. My next flight is in May, so I will try another recording then.

@munchkinbear The thing is, it did read one of my file. It may have been an issue with the SD card. After reformatting the card, I did a test recording and I was able to listen to it just fine on the Mac, and one of my CSUN talk recordings is listenable. Also, programming the date and time is not with the zoom h1 essential. The year is stuck on 2030, the month on January, etc. I hope this can be fixed in a future firmware update.

@bmoore123 @munchkinbear I am going to try again after upgrading the firmware. You'd think both of our recorders would have been running the same firmware version, so that's really odd.

Finally made it home! Changed out of my travel clothes and into my PJs and I am about ready to crash. It was almost 24 hours from door-to-door. That is too long when you're travelling with a dog. I will never do that again, I'll make sure I get direct flights.

@gtbray I mean, I didn't have a choice. If I were travelling from Toronto, I could've gotten a direct flight to Los Angeles and things would've been much better. My manager helped me book my flights, and we decided to go to John Wayne airport in Santa Ana because it was a lot closer to the hotel. When I originally booked the flights, all of my connection times weren't that bad. I would have just enough time to deplane and walk to my next gate and board the next plane, so I didn't think it was too bad. But I didn't count on the snowstorm that hit Toronto yesterday.
also, I wish I had done what you did and hired a local guide. I found the layout of the hotel very confusing, and kit is not a young dog. She spent lots of time guiding me in circles and I think this is going to be her last big conference.

@ppatel @gtbray They did have orientation tours. I didn't find them that helpful to be honest. I would have learned better if I could've walked around with someone and chatted with them about what was around me, but I did learn a lot from moving around the hotel myself. They also had a booklet with maps in it, but I confess I'm not good at reading maps. They didn't make any sense to me.

I'll checked into my hotel room in Anaheim. Loving this California weather! It beats Nova Scotia weather any day! I have been on the road for 16 hours, so I am just going to have a nap and adjust to the time change before CSUN kicks off tomorrow. Can't wait to see everyone!

I was really hoping to get one of the new Zoom recorders to take to CSUN with me, but alas, none are in stock locally. I'll either have to find somewhere local to buy it in Anaheim, or perhaps I could have amazon deliver to the hotel.

@bmoore123 I found somewhere local that sells them. I think it's local, they said they weren't too far away from the hotel, but they weren't really sure. I guess I can put all that info into Uber and see what it says. Anyway, they have 3 )h1 essentials in stock, they might be able to get an H4 through an intro store ship, And they have no H sixes. Do you want me to see if I can get them to hold an h1 for you?

@bmoore123 I should also tell you that you're going to need AAA batteries. I am not sure how many it takes, but I know it doesn't come with batteries. And you will also need an SD card because it does not come with any internal memory from what I've been told.

@bmoore123 I'm at the airport and just realized I left my Mantis at home. You will have to take @Pawpower up on her offer to borrow hers for your presentation. Ugh!!!! I can't believe I did that. I don't absolutely need it, but I would rather use Braille than speech most of the time.

I just fill out the US department of transportation form and carry her rabies certificate with me.

didn't realize I don't have any Braille paper. I thought I did. I want to emboss my speaker notes for my presentation. at Csun. Oh well, legal department might want to adjust some words on me but still. I know who still embosses things but I don't have a Mantis yet although want to get one of these this year.

@bmoore123 I want to go to your presentation, but I have to check my flight times on Friday. I think I leave around 130 or 145 local time. It's not a straight flight to Toronto, so I don't have to be to the airport three hours early. How long will your presentation be?
