Its apparently termite swarm season. I am not prepared to be plunged into darkness the second the sun goes down each day. I like my lamps, but they bring the bugs to the door.

This is a phenomena that I didn't experience until I moved to the gulf coast and I hate it.

My Friday relief has been ruined by the fact I must now call the vet. This is an adult act and not something I wanted in my weekend.

I am inordinately relieved that today is Friday and I have no weekend plans.

The effort of moving from vague brainstorming and thoughts in a notebook to actually starting a draft on this last project is apparently too large a hurdle for me this weekend.

I did read a bit of a book called Adventure Crucible: Building Stronger Scenarios for Any RPG and take some notes, so at least I've done something hobby related.

I'm currently working on writing about a holy temple run by an order that worships a god of protection (protection focusing on obfuscation and being hidden). I've got a set of rooms for the temple, functions and goals of the order, some NPCs, some items the order creates, and a mechanical idea for some abilities players may take. The temple also comes with some related tension thanks to its positioning in the world.

All in all, I think its shaping up well as a short project.

LindseyBonnette,
@LindseyBonnette@dice.camp avatar

@SJohnRoss It would maybe serve my purpose to include a bit more description of the god they worship, maybe some parables hes involved in...A discussion on what the members do outside of the temple because they'd probably be useful spymasters among other things...

Ah yes the rabbit holes

Quick blog post to mark the end of one quarter and the beginning of a new one. Take a look to see what I was up to, and what I intend to get up to.

I'm really bad at video games. And I don't mean I lose often, I mean I never play them.

Got the urge to play Orion: Prelude today, and I miss when the servers were active.

@LindseyBonnette@dice.camp avatar

@ta11dave Oh god that name brought back memories from being broke in college and buying a one dollar game (exclusively because it was one dollar) only to discover it was Orion: Prelude (it was named something else at the time) and an absolute banger of a game.

Another related entry to Crosby and the Feign Hunger, Tunica.

A ghost town.

Wastoid studiously avoids swear words for (admittedly weak) comedic effect, so I'm hesitant to use the name "I'll See You in Hell" for the upgrade that gives a big damage to you (and against you), and lets you go out with a bang when you inevitably go down swinging.

Any alternative suggestions that would still be (pretty) clear from the name what you'd get from the upgrade? Bonus points if it sounds cheerful! "Death Wish" sounds so dour, you know?

LindseyBonnette,

@JasonT
That is pretty cheery, better than "I'm taking you with me" or "We're going down together" which is what I came up with.

I need every rodent annihilation technique you've ever known to work or heard of working. It's life or death. Presume the target is rats. Yes I do prefer humane trap and release, we're beyond that point now.

@lee_quadkorps
Have you tried a 5 gallon bucket with a way for them to get in but no way out? Stick something they like to eat at the bottom. Also works with slick walled, tall trash cans.

The pen ink replacements came in, and they were indeed the right size!

I'm back to analog brainstorming and planning.

Does anyone else flip flop between wanting to keep everything digital and wanting to keep everything analog (and ending up with bits of information all over the place)?

LindseyBonnette,
@LindseyBonnette@dice.camp avatar

@SJohnRoss I always say I'm just going to do one and then end up doing both randomly.

At least different projects are mostly confined to one or the other.

Today's random search related to ttrpgs: bricks, pottery, and clay refinement. Things I would not have ever needed to know otherwise.

Another alligator mound, this time more dangerous than the last. These two pages will probably be combined at some point.

I imagine they eventually get broken up on the river and then reattach in slow flow areas once again to begin the cycle anew.

I would think the salt water in the gulf would kill them, so as to solve the problem of man eating fungus journeying the oceans.

I've written enough in my notebook recently that I finally ran the pen out of ink. Ordered what I think was theres right refills online, supposed to be here Monday. Hopefully I picked right.

This is for sure a first world problem.

I owe y'all two entries for my mopey days there. I had them done, just neglected to post them.

First I've got: A NPC related to the last NPC, and hey, she's not a terrible person!

Second a very short entry about a crystal ball that I may end up coming back to.

Serendipity was the first stop in the last campaign. The PCs set up a lowly guard by rolling absurdly high on deception and persuasion, and me rolling absurdly poorly on insight.

RIP Martinez.

@mexxell Hey, Martinez was totally alive when we left. A certain Fairchild cannot be blamed for the repercussion of his decisions.

My blog traffic is at nearly 4x (58 visitors) what it was yesterday (which was already higher than normal), and I'm struggling to figure out why. My latest post was from last week, so that shouldn't be it, and the new visitors are finding it via some direct link somewhere. The analytics pages are no help.

Its perplexing!
