recommendations for mp3 players?

  • storage >= 64GB or expandable
  • headphone jack
  • not breaking the bank
  • 2nd hand fine
  • FLOSS (or can install FLOSS software)
  • no touchscreen, wifi or other frills

(a * denoting preferable but really not mandatory)

thoughts on alpine or void? anyone with experience using either / both? (as a daily driver, not a container)

notes on packages, stability and compatibility especially.
alpine uses musl which has had patchy support at best when i've tried it before.

am i the only one who's tired of people shitting on the vision pro seemingly because it's apple?

i think the technology & concept backing it is really interesting. obviously, having all this data & technology locked exclusively to a proprietary and monopolistic company is terrible, but it serves as a pioneering product. maybe i'm being hopeful, but i like to think humane alternatives will crop up as the interest & market develops.. it seems inane to dismiss this line of development so early.

you can now use arbitrary NPM packages server-side.
this was one of the last major caveats to my SSR system!
index.html (abridged)

server.onload = () => {
 console.log(`1 is ${server.imports.isOdd(1) ? '' : 'not '}odd.`);
};

imports.mjs

import isOdd from "is-odd";
export { isOdd };

(is-odd is added as a dependency in the local package.json)

watched moon (2009). good sci-fi, the plot is simple but has enough depth to keep the film moving.

the visuals were lacking and rather uninspired but itw's moderately budgeted so i can't complain.

i really liked the cut & audio though. simple yet effective.

holy fuck my compsci class. i wrote
state = not state
this is apparently wrong, and the correct answer was:

if LEDState == True:
 LEDState = False
else:
 LEDState = True

(and my teacher wouldn't let me proceed until i had written it the way, and i quote, "he wants me to")

== ANSWERED ==

am i going crazy?
(this is an excerpt, for brevity's sake. the real system is much more complicated.)

this JS code produces the correct result:

[..]
target.addEventListener(eventName, () => handler());

but this doesn't

target.addEventListener(eventName, () => { handler() });

i would've thought these forms would be identical?
am i doing something stupid or is this a bug?

on a vaguely similar note: i've been thinking a lot on just how much information there must be publicly accessible on the internet.
i wonder if from the moment you were born, how long would it take to read every blog post, listen to every song, watch ever video.. ect
(disregarding language barriers and eating and sleeping and all that)
how many lifetimes?
this scale of this stuff is dizzying..
just thinking about it sends shivers down my spine, yet simultaneously is comforting..

at a concert. i actually really liked the support act but my dad didn't so sat it out with him :/ no idea what they were called though, so can't even give them a listen later

hoping the main act give them a mention - they have a super unique sound!

shot in the dark but a book i've forgotten: y/a, albeit mature. it was depressing and subversive / sarcastic of coming-of-age stories.

(on holiday)
before we left i found this old digital camera in a shoebox in my cupboard, and miraculously enough it had batteries and a charger

so i've been taking some photos with it on the beach. but we don't have a CF reader so i can't read them onto my laptop or free space on the card for more photos (used ~.6GB in one day D:)
anyways. it's a cool camera.

re-re-writing sdwc. i don't really know why. just bored.

anyway i wrote a whole design doc for it so i can implement whole compiler stages at a time.

first stop: lexing. this time i actually implemented multiline errors too.

debating whether error recovery is worth it. bootstrapping the compiler with only 1 error at a time would be miserable, and retrofitting recovery later would be worse. but.. lazy..

spacex talk, poorly summarised

  • superheavy to attempt a landing at a virtual tower in IFT-4
  • hoping to successfully catch a superheavy before the end of the year
  • ship landings will be next year because the flight path would cross population areas
  • complete second launch tower @ starbase (R&D) and build a further 2 @ cape (flight)
  • produce 6 fullstacks this year and increase starfactory production
  • in-orbit refeulling demo next year

this is unironically brilliant. it's like a parody show of silicon valley, but played entirely for straight. the "whales" are the butt of the joke and one almost thinks they don't realise
