This is from someone who thinks capitalism is great:
“Resources aren't capital. The capitalist often does not even need them, in order to turn profit. He can simply invest his capital to buy means of production and labor, and sell the results at profit.”
I couldn’t ask for a more succinct summary of capital as a token that some people have, and others don’t, which the owners can swap for owning someone else’s labor and the value of the product of that labor.
Capital doesn’t represent resources! It’s not connected to anything useful! You can’t use it to make more stuff, only to control someone else! It’s just a token! It’s quantified, commodified power!
