The Trail To Nowhere is now The Trail To Somewhere! The Long Bridge Connector (LBC) between MVT & Boundary Drive is now open to the public. Please boost!
The intersection of LBC & MVT is located between the Navy Merchant Marine Memorial & the ramp to the 14th Street Bridge. At the other end, use the west roundabout to connect to Long Bridge Park / Pentagon / Pentagon Metro https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnW3AbgHmpU
TOMORROW is our New Year's Day trail event at Jones Point! We have 34 people signed up so far, which is great b/c we have a lot of work to do. Have you registered yet?
Meet at 10 AM at the intersection of MVT and S Royal St, down the ramp from the Capital Bikeshare dock at MVT and S Washington St. Be sure to bundle up! Remember, there's no bad weather: only bad gear.
I found out today that the city plans on taking away street parking, and about 8’ of my front yard and driveway to turn the street into a boulevard with separate sidewalks and bike lanes. As a cyclist, I’m all for safe bike lanes, but why can’t they put in a shared use path instead? Then they wouldn’t be destroying our yards and getting rid of parking needed for homes and independent small businesses along this street. Not to mention that they are no longer closing down the off-ramps so traffic will be as heavy as ever, resulting in gridlock right outside my bedroom window. And how will the fire trucks navigate the narrower lanes? My pollinator garden would be paved over and my house would be right up against the street. Ugh. @waterlooregion#CityLiving#BikeLanes#SharedPath#SharedUsePath
Heading home. So proud of us. At 4:30 pm—1h before event start—our tool hauler called: no power @ the storage space, can’t get tools, bike, & trailer. She drove to 2 board members’ houses to borrow tools & we got the word out to our leader corps to bring whatever they had. And we did it! We got 20 #volunteers w < 24h notice. Can’t wait to share the before/after pics w y’all.
