South Africa’s ruling African National Congress party is far from one that stands up for international law. They have been welcoming to many regimes known for crimes against humanity, including Russia, China, Sudanese warlard Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, and even leaders of the brutally fascist Hamas terrorist group. Why then would they bring a bizarre charge of genocide against a country defending itself from attack? Why make an accusation that will almost certainly fall apart in court? 2024 is an election year, and they need to distract from the widespread corruption in the party that is causing their country to fall apart, with daily power outages, collapsing infrastructure, approaching half unemployment, and steeply rising crime.
