Update on RetroAchievements website performance

Hi everyone. We want to keep you informed and updated as we’ve been making progress with the ongoing server and site performance issues.

You may have noticed that badges have been a little slow to update since we released V5 yesterday. Don’t worry. Right now, the server has automatically queued up a lot of work that will help us resolve the performance issues we’ve been seeing over the last few weeks. Badge updates are now handled in these queues too, and unfortunately some of the updates have been queued at the “back of the line”. If you find that some of your badges are missing, they’ll eventually arrive after waiting it out for a little while.

The work the server is doing right now is necessary for us to finally get over the hump. This will not be a regular occurrence. Because of the intensity of the work the server is doing in the background right now, you may notice certain site features are no longer visible. This is to ensure the server can get through its work as quickly as possible.
