In my experience, enabling "Use for development" in Xcode substantially lowers my iPhone's battery life. It's been that way since at least 2018, when I first noticed my battery drained faster when on work Wi-Fi.

Is this a thing? A quick web search turned up nothing.

@Cykelero even if “Connect via network” was unchecked?

@jncn That used to be my fix! It's no longer possible to uncheck it in Xcode 15, though. Something about the best route being automatically selected.

That same pane has a "Show run destination: Never" option, though, so I'll be trying that!

frankrausch,

@Cykelero I always thought it’s related to battery wear by constantly plugging and unplugging the cable for development. 😅

@frankrausch Yikes!
I rarely use my phone for development, and I've seen a big difference in battery life since I plugged it into Xcode a few days ago. So not a wear thing in my case!
