I keep trying to come up with an automation in #HomeAssistant to use excess solar to charge the EV. My EVSE allows setting the current between 6 and 48 Amps, and I have lots of data points to use to determine if there is excess and set the current appropriately.

The problem is having so many options, I can't decide how to approach this. I've tried some examples on the community, but they're usually specific to Teslas which have other data available.

I might use helpers to emulate what they use

I've tried approaching this with #NodeRed. Some people have shared their flows, but it's very messy trying to follow such a thing, and shared code to import also rarely works without proper documentation.

What I keep getting stuck on is how to define the available amps to set the EVSE to. It depends on if it is on and need to deduct its current power from calculations, but my logic seems to fail me when trying to implement. #HomeAssistant

@motoridersd it might be too new of a use case, but try posing the scenario to ChatGPT? I've gotten some good hints to logic flows using it, even if the full solution doesn't work

@James thanks I've been avoiding using chatgpt for anything
