Just tried Diamine Oxblood for the first time and I'm a bit...underwhelmed. It looks like it doesn't shade very much, and looks just uniform brown, as opposed to Noodler's Antietam that can go from anywhere from red-orange to red-brown/dark-red.
Anyone got similar ideas? ...tbf I also have a bottle of Diamine Writer's blood that I can mix with it probably. 🤔 #inks#notebooks#fountainpens
@abe it’s not known for being a shading ink, it’s known for being the color of dry blood. So you’re looking for a shading ink that’s close to this color? This color when light (less ink) or when dark (ink pooled)?
@paradoxmo Eh - hard to explain :P I'm looking for something close to properties of Noodler's Tiananmen, which is now discontinued. I use Antietam a lot, but my only issue with Antietam is that it takes hours (literal hours) to dry on Midori MD paper.
I don't mind the 'color of dry blood' necessarily. To me it just looks a bit drab and a bit too 'brown' than dried rusty color that Antietam/Tiananmen 'blood' tends to look (Antietam looks very orange in finer nibs but when you go to an M it takes a very 'rusty blood' look.)
Edit: Bonus points if it clings to the side/wall of a demonstrator pen (highly viscous/thick) as opposed to just pooling together.
@abe maybe consider Diamine Noel (leans dark red) or Werewolf Blood (leans brownish). If you want a brighter red, Pelikan Edelstein Garnet, or for more of a red orange, Dominant Industry Earl Grey Tea.
