@icedquinn yea remapping has been in my mind. I do use the right control sometimes, also been thinking about home row mods but havent figured it all out.
I've seen those a little bit, learning the basics without them still.
@thgs god-mode just lets you skate on holding all the modifiers down. otherwise it preserves all the hotkeys as-is for any mode. and works with any vanilla-esque plugins you might install down the line.
until you graduate to using evil-mode :blobcatcrown:
@thgs@scathach before i switched to the sofle i did start palming the control key. it makes a difference. although in emacs i largely rewired it not to need it.
@thgs@scathach once you get chungus enough you will just start having things like a leader key that opens a menu, so you can just type \s from normal mode to save. or \jw to activate ace-jump to go to a word on the screen, or something else to get to swiper, and then you really just start flying across the screen :blobcatrainbow:
@scathach@thgs in my last days of c++ i had started replacing the self-insert keys to completely eliminate holding shift (because it was a source of RSI.) so things like typing ;; would become :: and - would become an underscore if next to an identifier character kind of stuff
