I am in the process of making a #CatTower with the 10yo. We still need to figure out where exactly it will go (that will determine the final height), and also need to add platforms under the holes and carpet along the outside.
I don't think I ever followed up on this. I waited for a bit, hoping to find some free/used cheap carpet to use for the cat tower. It's NYC right? But after like 9 months of waiting, I gave up and bought some clearance carpet remnants from a local store. I also bought a sisal mat for the base. Then I opened it back up and stapled the carpet inside. I also put some carpet on the outside, but for Reasons (mostly I wanted to see what the cats actually preferred) I didn't quite finish it up.
#Erie (#MurderCat) loves it and would run across the room, jump up on it, and then legs splayed out climb to the top ledge like some kind of wild squirrel going up a tree. #Clove mostly ignored it. Neither really liked the sisal at the bottom, which I'd installed too low.
Now I've uninstalled the sisal and am putting it in a better spot. Both cats are having a blast with the tower down on the ground. #CatsOfMastodon.
Here's more of it. Now that I have a permanent location for the sisal mat, I'm both gluing and stapling it. The cats were very useful helpers, especially when I had to rotate the tower with both inside..
