Personally, I had never so much as imagined that I would ever dance before I entered university as an undergraduate student. However, my second semester in my American university, one of my friends invited me to join a waltz class at the university-affiliated ballroom dance club....
Kind of crazy to think that the waltz, at its inception, was considered scandalous, whereas the modern conception of ballroom dancing (including the waltz) is largely "stiff," "formal," or "straight-laced."
There’s no such thing as unfair judging. You should be so much better than the rest of the floor that any judge would be an idiot to not mark you first.
