How long will you let that log dry before you use it? And how will you prevent it from bending while it dries?

This is the first time I’ve tried this so it’s kind of an experiment. I’ll probably let it air dry for about a year (mostly because I won’t have time to do anything with it until then). I read sealing the ends and weighting it down helps prevent warping.

The direction of the grain relative to the board makes a big difference. Quarter sawing is supposed to get the best boards out of a log.
