abies_exarchia, in Taken on the way up Mt. Massive in Colorado

I did this exact trail and made it up. I highly recommend it if you’re ever able. By far my favorite 14er. The alpine meadow is enormous and the view of the Arkansas headwaters unparalleled

abies_exarchia,

But obviously it’s a beautiful hike at every point!

knova,

I just got back from sea level for a week which I think contributed to me feeling a bit sluggish. Going to try again once I’m back in my mojo

CaptObvious, in Taken on the way up Mt. Massive in Colorado

Wow! When there’s time, I’d love to try my hand at a watercolor of this. It’s gorgeous.

knova,

I hope you do and please post here if so!

CaptObvious,

Thanks! Will do. :)

ladicius, in Looking for somewhat remote trails in Central Europe

Wild camping is forbidden in all of Germany for ecological reasons.

Linus_Torvalds,

I am not sure that is is due to ecological reasons, but yes, it is indeed.

HerbalGamer, in Looking for somewhat remote trails in Central Europe

Have a look at the Krimmler Achental; bunch of hikes in this region anyway and just a few hours from Munich

Linus_Torvalds,

This is looking cool, especially the Hohe Tauern Trail.

HerbalGamer,

Send me a message if you’re actually gonna go up the waterfalls and I’ll tell you about the nicest way up there ;)

Linus_Torvalds,

Will do!

possiblylinux127, in Old School Camp Cooking Last Week

What old school? That’s normally what you do when camping

nhgeek,

I think old Coleman white gas stoves are not as popular these days as the propane ones.

possiblylinux127,

Well they are popular for me when I’m car camping

nhgeek,

Welcome to the club! Now let’s sign our “old school” member cards with a quill.

knova, in AllTrails vs Natural Atlas

All trails kills my battery but I like it for activities logging.

knova, in Caesar's Head State Park, SC

This rules. So lush.

VentraSqwal, in Taken on the way up Mt. Massive in Colorado

Wow that’s beautiful

knova, in Keowee-Toxaway State Park, SC

oh man, I’d love to do a road trip and do some kayaking there.

zxo, in AllTrails vs Natural Atlas

I haven’t used Natural Atlas, but AllTrails is fine. It helps to discover good hikes, but its mapping of the trail can be bad at times. I’ve been on a few hikes where AllTrails wanted me to go off the marked trail or straight through lakes. Despite that, it isn’t that bad if you trust the trail signage and the trail conditions over what AllTrails says.

VentraSqwal, in AllTrails vs Natural Atlas

I’m also curious. I have friends that use All Trails and say that is good, but haven’t known anyone that has used Natural Atlas and is able to compare.

I haven't used Natural Atlas, but I have All trails and it's alright. Be careful, though, as it often lists hikes that will lead you to trespass on private property.
