Also losing: Homophobe and Islamophobe Roy Owens in District 7 (#Roxbuy), who once again proved to be a loser, but at least not as big of a loser as anti-vaxxer Padma Scott. Incumbent Tania Fernandes Anderson, getting well over 50% of the vote, will face off against perennial candidate Althea Garrison in Nov. #Boston

@mnda @starluna She completely lucked out in 2017 when she came in fifth for an at-large council seat - in a race that included an actual, literal clown - which meant she became a councilor for a few months in 2019 after Councilor Ayanna Pressley became US Rep. @universalhub @mnda I am genuinely curious how people do this. Is expensive to run a race, especially in the city of boston. Where does Althea and Roy get their money?

@starluna @mnda Only expensive if you hire staffers and do lots of mail drops. Owens does wheel out his Owensmobile to blast his accumulated wisdom through a loudspeaker. Garrison, meanwhile, self funds what posters and flyers she has printed up - $2,200 this year (well, through mid-Aug).

@universalhub @starluna Althea and Roy just leave their campaign posters up and slap stickers over whatever bit is different this time. Roy’s “mailers” are a word salad at best.
