Maybe this would've been more interesting to post? I don't know. The left is the original and probably had too many vertices, so I decided to decimate it a bit.
This uses 2 different sets of vertex colors (and slightly different plane geometry for different colors) then proportional editing to give it a 3D shape, also some of it is reused. 13 leaves. I actually left the original unbent ones in too (in the middle).
It took me about 20 hours (feel like I should also mention I have adhd so times may vary lol) with some hair pulling tbh, and if I am frank while the tutorial is good there were a few times I had to check the youtube comments to get answers because of a few things that were forgot, but besides that good!
You can find the first part of a 3 part tutorial here would have added this as text to the post tbh but did not really know how, still getting used to kbin.
This is an awesome list, thank you! It's crazy the kinds of add-ons folks make for Blender. I'm particularly interested in the non-destructive plugin. Has anyone here used it already? Does it work well with Boxcutter?
already posted this on reddit and mastodon but I figured the blender community on lemmy/kbin needed some posts and there were none
here is the clay render
