@fkamiah17 As someone pointed out to me, where is this policy being launched? Literally in Dover, with a pre-planned speech.
I’m thinking Elphicke was not a mere coincidence of timing, but part of a larger cynical PR plan.

@BashStKid Really? That's interesting. I do wonder how long backroom talks have been going ahead then.
The launch and its wording is obviously designed to appeal to a very particular (local) crowd.
I saw a quote yesterday on the CLP's statement - "It's not Keir's job to pander to the whims of local members".
NEC's going to be interesting, I think.
