@joe They didn’t close because of the pandemic. They closed because people couldn’t be bothered to wear a mask or stay home for a couple of months to let the virus fade away.
@TransitBiker I don't think that I can agree with that statement. Mask or not, it was kind of a foolish thing for anybody to try to go to a movie in April of 2020. Even beyond that, there weren't any new movies coming out because nobody was going to the movies. The Fox Bay tried to adjust for the first issue by offering "concessions to go". They tried to adjust for the second thing by playing a lot of movies from the '80s and '90s.
@TransitBiker ... Folks like Marcus were able to weather it because they're super diversified and they did things like setting up drive-in theaters in their parking lot. A three screen independent theater doesn't really have that option.
@joe outdoor stuff definitely helps, especially if the company can rent screens and continue that way.  The main problem is people not cooperating with public health measures causing shutdowns to be extended and to be required in the first place. One silver lining with stage and production, and this pandemic is that a lot of new groups have formed and a lot of exciting things are in the pipeline.
