I'm sure these have been done to death already, but I'm thinking about doing an end-to-end project build (maybe, cloning Twitter) using #PHP, #Laravel, #VueJS and #PostgreSQL - and then documenting the entire thing on YouTube.
I'm almost positive that there are already video series out there doing this exact thing, so I'm trying to work out what would make my approach to it any more unique.
@wogan Perhaps if you could find a way to put a uniquely South African spin on it. International people love hearing about South Africa.
Or put a uniquely fediversal spin on it... Maybe even by doing it on Peertube instead of YouTube (unless you're specifically trying to monetise it, of course). :-D
@GrahamDowns It's more that I'm trying to get my feet wet with content creation. I've done the actual work about a thousand times: Being on a private screenshare call with a small group, working through a problem, etc.
I do want to upload to YouTube though, the reach is unparalleled.
Interesting point about "fediversal" - maybe the implementation could be ActivityPub-based, which also lets me tick off the "learn ActivityPub someday" bucket list item!
@wogan Yeah, understood about YouTube. Unlike photos and textual posts, video creation is time-consuming and potentially expensive, so I wouldn't embark on such a project without at least the option of monetising it.
But I think you're on to something about making it ActivityPub based. That way you learn something new yourself, and you also get more people talking about the open protocol. Which can only be a good thing. :)
@GrahamDowns I'll definitely dig into how feasible that is - a big chunk of making ActivityPub work is that your server has to be reachable from other servers, you can only get so far with purely-local testing, but that too is OK - I'd include CI/CD in the project.
