I chose to create a magazine called Cosmic Horror, in part, because I wanted to develop something for a more specific audience than what's already out there. But as a subscriber to r/lovecraft I wanted to branch out from the specificity of a Lovecraft magazine. I don't want to attempt to replace that community directly, though I admit the overlap of what that sub covers and what I would like to build here is substantial.
More than anything, I wanted the title of this place to more accurately reflect the genre as it stands now, rather than tie it back once more to its master by invoking his name. Lovecraft will always be a part of cosmic horror, but the subgenre has entered a new plateau in the public consciousness and I think a new community should bear the recognition proudly.
