The collision between a car and a pedestrian on Adelaide Avenue, near The Lodge, at 6am today is exactly why we need a separated active travel lane on major commuter roads.
Lots of people I know who are experienced cyclists won't use the quickest route between Woden and the city for bike commuting, because it just doesn't feel safe when cars are that close to you.
I said it in 2020, and I'll keep saying it: separated cycleways are safer and more inclusive.
