@msquebanh Since white men first came to stay in this hemisphere, they've used their violent seizing and control of the land and its use to enslave as many as they can.
@ricardoharvin You're spot on. Today's style of slavery may look different than past slavery days. The tools of oppression & systematic racism are not much different. Modern day slaves are abused, underpaid & terrified.
@ricardoharvin I have heard multiple horror stories directly from migrant workers treated like slaves in BC. They include POC women being raped at remote industrial man camps. Man camps are very dangerous for migrant worker women & native women who work/live near the camps & dangerous to other women who may be travelling alone near those man camps.
These man camps are wet camps. Tons of booze & drugs brought in.
My brother hated being sent to one & never took another man camp contract 👍
@msquebanh It's always been the same here in Florida, the sugarcane workers especially, and from all I've learned of everywhere else farming and ranching are industries in the U.S.
@ricardoharvin It's the same here in certain farming areas where there's never really been much settler workers but massive amounts of temporary foreign workers. We'd be starving if it wasn't for all the migrant workers toiling hard in the farm fields. If anyone is against migrant workers - they should try working their jobs & living in crap housing for a week.
