He loved the more abstract desert images. Yours is in that genre, but has a warmth (embrace?) about it that I find missing from White's work.
I spent many hours in a darkroom as a teenager trying to get decent prints that had the depth of tone that the zone system promised. Darktable or Gimp makes that so much easier now!
@elaterite I shall have to look up parametric masks. I have found the curves tool very powerful. Along with a post-process red filter applied before desaturating. This was a classic film trick to get white clouds on a dark sky.
