Nepal helicopter crash: All six aboard Manang Air chopper dead

All six people aboard the Manang Air chopper that crashed at Lamjura of Likhupike Rural Municipality in Solukhumbu district on Tuesday, have died in the accident.

The chopper with registration number 9N-AMV carrying six people including Captain Chet Bahadur Gurung and five Mexican nationals crashed in Lamjura of Likhupike Rural Municipality on Tuesday.

Six people including Captain Chet Bahadur Gurung and five Mexican nationals were aboard the aircraft, according to Raju Neupane, operation and safety manager of Manang Air.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipak Shrestha, the District Police Chief, informed that the police have established the identities of the deceased.

The accident is believed to have been caused due to bad weather, Shrestha added.

The chopper had gone out of contact on Tuesday morning and was later found crashed at Chihandanda of Lamjura which lies between Jiri and Phaplu.

Neupane informed that an Altitude Air chopper along with security officials, which was mobilised in the area of Lamjura Pass for the search of the missing chopper, has reached the incident site.

Preparations are under way to airlift the bodies to Kathmandu after completing necessary documentations, informed Shrestha.
