Anyone aware of other #frontend frameworks with telemetry (i.e., usage measurement)? #TIL @astro has it on by default. #webdev

grepehu,

@ayo @astro I'm looking for them too now that you mentioned, so far I've only found it in NextJS and Storybook.

Completely disappointed in Astro after this, I don't mind having telemetry if this is an explicit question in the init CLI, but simply having it turned on by default is bad faith.

@grepehu @astro Ah also found @nuxt has it: https://github.com/nuxt/telemetry

so today we learned it's a common practice to understand framework users

@grepehu @astro @nuxt to be fair it looks used to understand which features should be prioritized... it was just surprising

grepehu,

@ayo @astro @nuxt yeah I don't mind, but I wished it they were more open about itnin the init CLI asking for permission, like some software do on the first use.

@grepehu @astro @nuxt I agree. Here's a discussion opened (last year) on Astro roadmap: https://github.com/withastro/roadmap/discussions/746
