Microsoft's jaw-dropping nauseous greenwashing

Microsoft’s AI Push Imperils Climate Goal as Carbon Emissions Jump 30%

The company’s goal to be carbon negative by 2030 is harder to reach, but President Brad Smith says the good AI can do for the world will outweigh its environmental impact.

Ah, Brad, Brad, pull the other one, fella. Maybe for once in your life could you be honest? It's the good AI will do your stock price. That's all you care about.

@gerrymcgovern Worse, the "good" to the stock price is temporary.

Fake AI bubble is a flagrant pump-and-dump rug pull, being played by entire tech sector and its masters on retail investors, including all index funds, managed retirement accounts, and pension accounts. A scam so big it beggars the imagination.

The insiders will have sold everything off before it collapses.

@brent Totally agree.

Imagine you're out there in the marketplace selling a Fact Machine, and this Fact Machine is constantly lying. And when you're challenged, when you're asked: "What good is a Fact Machine that lies all the time?, your response is literally the following:

"Factual accuracy in large language models remains an area of active research.”

That's like saying:
You being able to sit on this chair we just sold you is an area of active research.

@gerrymcgovern @brent With AI, I keep returning back to something Ezra Klein said - "AI has the potential to change everything, but I still can't figure out how to use it in my daily life." This news makes me very angry. I used to be pretty supportive of Microsoft but I think that with their attempts to ram AI down our throats, I might start to extricate myself from them as much as I can.

Lol.

Also, the chair we sold you is taking pictures of your butt. No worries though, it's only to train better chairs.
