@andycarolan IMO, a computer has 1 purpose: making things easier.
When Apple chose to make basic media interop harder to the point that I couldn't view photos from my camera on their tablet, but could on a cheaper Android tablet... I was like "Ok, time to leave"
@Longplay_Games yeah, it was never a very successful experience with that. FWIW, i think it’s easier now with file access. But Apple is still confused as to what the iPad actually is

It's the same trouble Nintendo has with the Switch, really.

When compared to the absolute focus Apple used to be known for, it's really a bit sad. Jobs had really just 2 talents - laser-like focus and the ability to convince people he was right :D
@Longplay_Games I mean, I can see that the Switch can be both a handheld and a home console, but for the iPad… it feels like its trying to be everything.
I bought an iPad Air 5 for sketching on the go… and dealing with mail etc, but everything feels like it takes longer than it would on a laptop. Everything is a compromise.
@Longplay_Games I've had a number of iPods over the years... although the only one I have left is a final generation gold shuffle. And yes, I agree, they were amazing pieces of kit! They did the job so very well.
@andycarolan Sorta off-topic, but I used my ipod classic (the huge black one) as a portable linux desktop (for consulting) and a music player.
It literally spanned my professional and home life for ages.
Beautiful piece of kit. Dang shame they decided to wander off in favor of "do everything meh" tech instead.
@andycarolan I couldn't say, since I own a dedicated player (an AK70), and consider it fairly indispensible.
For one thing, the output level is high enough that I don't have to turn my car stereo up to nearly max, for another, it has lovely physical next/play/prev buttons that I can touch while driving with out looking.
@Longplay_Games Oh wow, that's a beautiful looking product. I hadn't heard about those before, so did a quick Google.
I do love physical buttons... It's one of my main complaints about what I see happening to modern cars... they all appear to have iPads stuck to the dash. Oh look, I think we've gone almost full circle haha.
