Abortion started out as a healthcare issue in the late 60s by Democrats. Ronald Reagan vaulted ahead by legalizing abortion essentially as a birth control measure in California because overpopulation was a concern back then. Republicans even toyed with a law requiring mandatory abortions for those pregnant women on welfare. Seems like we are back to where we started. Democrats are once again championing abortion as a healthcare issue.
