LilyGo T-Echo license-free radio arrived today. Love that it has a screen to see range and direction to nearby radios, as well as incoming text messages. Can't wait to go walk in the forest and test out whether I can connect to any other #Meshtastic radios across #CapeTown and surrounds.

Black palm size radio with an e-ink screen showing a text message that says "Got your message. This is direct reply".

raroun,

@danie10
If you want, you can replace the stock antenna with an eightwood antenna.
This antenna is cheap and performs much better than the stock antenna.
I have also 2 T-Echo with eightwood antennas 😀

@raroun OK not heard of an eightwood antenna, but I did get a bendy 868MHz antenna off AliExpress which I haver not fitted.

saahbs,

@danie10 that is so fancy compared to heltec v3 - eink is awesome! How active is Meshtastic in Cape Town? (I'm curious because where I live there are a ~dozen 24/7 nodes in 10mi range of me, but folks aren't chatty at all!)

@saahbs yes this is really all self-contained and nice to stick in a pocket. We have about 8 or so nodes in Cape Town but all spread out and on flat ground so only two or three reach each other. We're trying to get someone a little higher up to have a node that we can all reach.
