Album one called #One done on my #TesseracT#Metaljourney and I can't help but thinking about what I wrote when I first listened to their latest album last year:
"Do I really like #ProgMetal as much as I always thought?"
I didn't mind listening to the album and it had its moments, but nothing really clicked yet.
The #GrowerOrBlower metre has not yet deflected in any direction.
One gets a 3 out of 5 - solid, I might listen to it again.
@vanessawynn I bought Radiohead's Amnesiac just because a school friend said they are good. I didn't know Radiohead before.
The album left me confused and i was disappointed.
Now it is one of my favorites.
@derthomas I know not everyone will like the same thing and that's okay. Man yea the same thing happened to me too with Radiohead! I think that TesseracT album does need multiple listens. It took me a few but the more I listened the more I liked it

#Polaris is done and I need to take a break now. Midway through the album it started to annoy me and made me realize: I am just not a prog fan any longer.
Four albums in and it is safe to say: I won't become a TesseracT fan.
This album in particular sounds like movie trailer score with all its breakdowns, silent parts and so on. And after 4 albums everything repeats itself, and what I liked on the first to albums started to annoy me.
2 out of 5, there were some highlights, but overall not my thing.

I’d love to have a recommendation back from you. I get in ruts where I obsessively play the same influences over and over again and I think my brain is starting to rot. lol.
@jessica I love em! They're like this Norwegian Black Metal version of Motörhead.
I saw them opening for Anthrax and Slayer 10 years ago and they were great. And their singer wore an owl as a hat.
And sacrifices have been made. Don't get me wrong, there are some great moments on all their albums, but their overall style is something I don't really like.
I did my best, it didn't change. As harsh as it sounds but #GrowerOrBlower? Blower. Sorry.
@derthomas Hot take: TesseracT is overrated.
And they were late. They mucked so much about their singer, other bands hopped onto the djent/math train much sooner and by the time they came out with their first album, that sounds became almost mainstream and they were just another boring djent band.
War of Being was last year's biggest disappointment for me.
@yourfutureex I don't know the whole Djent scene enough for a qualified statement on that.
I have no idea if they are overrated, lots of poeple with good taste in music seem to like them.
Yes, I admit, I found them boring and doing the same stuff over and over again. But people say that about Slayer and AC/DC too and I love both of them.
@derthomas@vanessawynn@thomas Tesseract, Monuments … es gab mal eine Zeit, da habe ich diese Prog/Djent-Bands sehr gerne gehört. So richtig steil gegangen bin ich auch nie, aber kann man gut machen 😄
@trendskater dein letzter Satz beschreibt meine Gefühlslage gerade. Da ist nix verkehrt, zünden will es aber auch nicht so recht bis jetzt. @vanessawynn@thomas
