After having switched to the Apple Journal app for an entire month, I’m back to Day One.
I really missed formatting my text, using shortcuts, and the iPad version. Plus, something didn’t feel right about leaving behind so many journal entries on Day One 🥺
@JeroenSchaper@nickycolman Beyond those, I realized that if you paste things like a bullet list, it supports it (but you cannot create one from scratch 😄)
@Aday@nickycolman that’s strange 😅 here’s hoping apple will add this with a next OS update. This is yet another app that should just be in the AppStore.

A huge company like Apple was only able to release a super basic iPhone app. Not up to the standard of existing apps, no shortcuts, no widgets, no iPad version... and on and on 😄
Now think about all these indie developers pushing the envelope at a way faster cadence!
@Aday@nickycolman it’s a bummer that most apps are baked into the OS.. All apps should be in the App Store with frequent updates.
But I think Apple deems it not needed. That apps baked into the is should be basic. And if the user wants to have “professional” grade apps they should get 3rd party apps.
Most apps are also deeply integrated into the OS, so that’s probably another reason why apps are updated with the OS and not through the store.
