I will be ending 2023 with 123 million points, most of them from Universe@Home and @einsteinathome
I am among the top 10k boincers worldwide.
I crunched around 50 million points this year, this was by far the best year for me. Buying an RTX 2060 gave me a good boost in Einstein. I hope to reach around 170-200 million points by the end of next year. Maybe I'll even afford a faster GPU :)
And my stats show clearly how #BOINC is not as distributed as it was meant to be. I crunched more than 99.7% of all boincers, yet my contirbution is only 0.00084% of the total contribution of all BOINC people. Only a few people is doing the 99.9(and many 9s) percent of total work.
It is a bit frustrating how niche #BOINC is, while it could be so beneficial for the world. It could be a great tool if more people, both crunchers and scientists, started using it.
@bekopharm FAH exploded at the beginning of the pandemic, because it was doing Covid research. This is how I got into distributed computing, after doing some crunching there, I remember googling for "FAH for astronomy", and that's how I found BOINC
