I’m hungry for some new iPhone games and am wondering what y’all are enjoying lately. I’m looking for something chill and can be played in bite-size chunks, especially.
Current games in my rotation are:
Marvel Snap
Golf on Mars
Pixel Pros Golf
Subpar Pool
@matt Brotato. Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam with more than 65,000 reviews. There’s a full iPhone version. “Just one more run” type of game, and suddenly it’s evening and no work has been done. There’s a free version with IAPs, but premium version is totally worth it, it’s under 5$.
@gribbo Absolutely, it’s as close as I’ve ever found to classic Mario Golf. It also does daily tournaments and you can see how to match up with other players. Love it.
@matt Total side note but have you run any local LLMs on your iPhone or iPad? I’ve got Mistral 7B running half decently on my 14 Plus and it feels amazing. Can’t wait for an Apple take on this.
@gribbo I have not yet! I’ve used Whisper-powered transcription apps which work great, but no text-based ones on my phone/iPad yet. I’m curious if you’ve found the response time to be comparable to ChatGPT, or if it’s faster/slower? Obvs Apple’s own would be quick, but curious all the same.
@sean Interesting, I do have a vague desire to get better at chess, and I enjoy Really Bad Chess, so this could be great. Anything specific with this app vs other chess ones that draws you to it?
@matt I’ve been playing Zookeeper World for ages, and they just keep on adding levels. I ignore the zoo building part which smells like they were going to do IAPs before putting it on Arcade.
@timstringer I may or may not have a 300+ day streak in Knotwords right now, so with you 100% there (didn’t mention it since it’s a bit less mindless).
Stitch is new to me though, checking it out, thanks!
@matt I can’t recall if we’ve ever discussed You Must Build a Boat, and dunno if you’ve already played it, but I gotta put that out there in the off chance you haven’t.
