RollingStone,

Donald Trump’s former lawyer and fixer, Michael Cohen, accidentally gave his lawyer phony legal citations — which were then used in a motion given to a federal judge — conjured by Google’s artificial intelligence chatbot, Google Bard. https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/michael-cohen-lawyer-fake-ai-generated-citations-legal-motion-1234938307/

@garretble @RollingStone

Yes, according to Cohens sworn notice to the court, he searched for cases and Google Bard popped them out and he gave the citations to his attorney who didn't do his diligence and put them in a filing.

When Bard came out, this happened where attorneys thought it was a supercharged search engine and not making crap up as a chatbot and cases have had to be corrected over time, so much so that courts now have rules about AI research in filings now.

@garretble Part of me shares the skepticism, though. 😉 The part of who he was until he was thrown to the wolves.
