chirpbirb,

tfw the bash scripts everyone uses to install things don't work in fish

levi,

@chirpbirb couldn't you just bash ./script.sh? Idk how fish works tho

chirpbirb,

@levi i'm trying to install nix on this machine and it asks me to do

sh <(curl -L https://nixos.org/nix/install) --daemon<br></br>

but fish gets upset and says

fish: Invalid redirection target:<br></br>sh <(curl -L https://nixos.org/nix/install) --daemon<br></br>   ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^<br></br>
levi,

@chirpbirb maybe you need to specify the sh binary itself like /bin/sh <(curl -L https://nixos.org/nix/install) --daemon

chirpbirb,

@levi nope, same output :(

@chirpbirb @levi in fairness the assumption is that nix is installed near or at the point of the OS being installed, or at least prior to switching to a shell other than bash/dash :3

you could also save the file and run it manually rather than straight redirecting in to bash, or do a pipe to shell.

@chirpbirb @levi (but I generally get annoyed when bash is assumed to be the shell in use, and even more annoyed when scripts assume it's installed in a particular place for the shebang)
